"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives" John 14:27. Peace and reconciliation are central Christian principles and are urgently needed in today's world. That's why one of the goals of Challenge 21 is for YMCAs to

"Seek to be mediators and reconcilers in situations of conflict and work for meaningful participation and advancement of people for their own self-determination."

So many places in this world cry for peace. Young people are often victims, but are also sometimes perpetrators. Some young generations grow up not knowing how it is to live without permanent fear and violence. Again, its young people who hold the key to breaking out of this situation.
