2012. Rio de Janeiro. United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development.

Has anything really changed after 20 years’ official engagement of the world community on the way to sustainable development and ecological security? It’s high time to act! It’s time for the youth to have a say and influence decision-making! With the aim to provide the Rio+20 conference with youthful energy and power the Global Youth Music Contest is organized.

“Let the music talk, let the rhythm play and let the world know what the youth have to say!” This is the motto of the Contest, the organizers of which decided to use music to make the youth be heard all around the world. Music is one of the most powerful ways to influence people’s minds and to express one’s ideas and thoughts.

The encouraging, inspiring and changing power of music is well known. Who doesn’t know the song of Michael Jackson “We are the world” and the UN speech of the YMCA, at the Opening of the 2011 High-level Meeting on Youth - 25 July 2011? Aren’t them bright examples that a song can be a convincing tool?

As for the criteria for participation in the contest, firstly, the message of the songs submitted should be about the promotion of sustainable development. Songs can be of any genre and in any language . The Contest is open for participation of youth between 15-30 years old. All the information about the contest can be found on the following website: www.glocha.info
