Great Honour for YMCA European Area President, Ed Eggink

Last Saturday the Dutch YMCA celebrated its 160th Anniversary as well as YMCA Europe's Impact Day and the farewell reception for  Cees Bremmer, followed by a big party in the evening.

During  that meeting, to his great surprise, Ed Eggink  was appointed “Knight in the Order of Orange Nassau” by the King of The Netherlands.

Ed received this decoration, not only for his participation in board positions in the YMCA on local-; regional-; national- and international level for 50 years, but also for his voluntary work for many years as Chairman of the Board of the Protestant schools in Maastricht; for his work over the past 15 years in training civil servants about decision making processes in the European Union and also for his work in the field of environment- and water management.

Ed said that he was really overwhelmed. On Thursday morning Ed was received by the Mayor of Maastricht in the City Hall.

We would like to sincerely congratulate Ed on this great, and very well deserved honour.
