The future of digital equity isn’t being built in one place.
It’s taking shape in classrooms where teachers are exploring artificial intelligence for the first time. In community centres where young people are learning to code and experiment with robotics. In digital hubs where aspiring entrepreneurs are gaining the skills to launch businesses, and in safe learning spaces where technology is opening doors to education, employment and opportunity.
Across continents, these moments may look different, but they are connected by a shared belief: that everyone, regardless of where they live or the circumstances they face, deserves the opportunity to participate in an increasingly digital world.
That belief continues to drive the HP–YMCA Accelerating Digital Equity (ADE) partnership. Through a growing global network of YMCA Digital Hubs, communities are not only gaining access to technology, they are building the knowledge, confidence and skills needed to shape their own futures.
During the second quarter of 2026, this collective effort reached 295,846 direct beneficiaries through 641 Digital Hubs operating across 29 countries. Together, these hubs delivered programmes spanning digital literacy, coding, robotics, employability, entrepreneurship, STEM education and AI learning, reflecting both the scale of the partnership and its ability to respond to local needs.
A global vision shaped by local communities
No two YMCA communities are exactly alike, and neither are their Digital Hubs.
Across the network, each YMCA continues to adapt digital programming to the realities of its community while contributing to a shared global mission of expanding digital opportunity. In some locations, the priority is introducing children and young people to coding and robotics. In others, the focus is preparing educators to integrate emerging technologies into their classrooms, supporting entrepreneurs with digital business skills, or helping job seekers build the confidence needed to navigate an increasingly technology-driven labour market.
This flexibility has become one of the partnership’s greatest strengths. Rather than delivering a single model everywhere, the HP–YMCA partnership empowers local YMCAs to develop programmes that respond to their communities while remaining connected through a common vision of digital inclusion, innovation and lifelong learning.
Turning technology into opportunity
The true value of digital skills lies not in technology itself, but in what technology enables.
Throughout the quarter, YMCA Digital Hubs continued creating pathways into education, employment and entrepreneurship by equipping participants with practical, future-focused skills.
Across Europe, the Digital Hub ecosystem continued to expand through the launch of new hubs, strengthened collaboration with HP local teams and regional capacity-building initiatives that are helping scale quality digital programming. Milestones such as the co-launch of the Thessaloniki Digital Hub, the reopening of Armenia’s renovated “Next Hub,” and support for the VEX Robotics National Competition in Belgium demonstrated how strategic partnerships can translate into meaningful opportunities for local communities.
In the United States, Digital Hubs continued creating engaging pathways into STEM through coding, robotics, publishing and creative technology programmes. Young people participated in hands-on learning experiences that encouraged creativity, problem-solving and innovation, while inclusive programming ensured that newcomers and individuals with disabilities could also access digital learning opportunities.
Across the Philippines, digital transformation extended into classrooms as teachers strengthened their confidence in using emerging AI tools to enhance teaching and learning. At the same time, communities continued benefiting from digital literacy programmes designed to improve communication skills, employment readiness and digital participation.
Meanwhile, YMCA Colombia continued strengthening cybersecurity awareness while expanding partnerships that broaden access to digital education for young people. In Ethiopia, practical computer literacy and graphic design training equipped participants with skills that support both employment and self-employment, while a newly established digital learning space expanded opportunities for even more young people to participate.
Although these initiatives differ in focus, they all demonstrate the same principle: digital equity is achieved not through access to technology alone, but by creating opportunities for people to use technology to improve their lives.
More than digital skills
Throughout the quarter, another story quietly emerged.
Digital Hubs have become much more than places where technology is available. They have evolved into community spaces where collaboration, creativity and leadership can flourish.
Young people are stepping into mentoring and facilitation roles. Educators are building confidence in new teaching approaches. Local partnerships are strengthening programme sustainability. Communities facing social, economic or humanitarian challenges are continuing to access learning opportunities despite difficult circumstances.
These outcomes are harder to measure than participation numbers, yet they represent some of the partnership’s most meaningful achievements. They reflect growing confidence, stronger community connections and an expanding culture of innovation that extends well beyond the walls of each Digital Hub.
The diversity of those reached this quarter also highlights the programme’s broad impact. Alongside hundreds of thousands of young people and adults, Digital Hubs supported educators, entrepreneurs and on-demand workers—demonstrating that digital inclusion is relevant at every stage of learning, work and community life.
A shared journey continues
As YMCAs around the world begin a new quarter of implementation, the momentum created over recent months offers an encouraging reminder of what is possible through collaboration.
Every Digital Hub represents a local response to a global challenge. Every programme delivered, every partnership formed and every participant reached contributes to a movement working towards a future where digital opportunity is more inclusive, more accessible and more equitable.
World YMCA also extends its sincere appreciation to HP for its continued partnership and shared commitment to accelerating digital equity around the world. Through this collaboration, communities are not only gaining access to technology—they are developing the skills, confidence and opportunities needed to thrive in an increasingly digital society.
The work continues because the need continues.
As technology reshapes how we learn, work and connect, ensuring that communities are equipped to navigate that future has never been more important. Through the HP–YMCA Accelerating Digital Equity partnership, YMCA Digital Hubs are helping ensure that this future is one in which more people can participate, contribute and thrive.
The impact of this work cannot be measured solely by the number of Digital Hubs established or participants reached. Its true value lies in the opportunities created, the confidence built and the lives being transformed, one learner, one community and one Digital Hub at a time.
