“We faced up to new realities, and realised we had to adapt”
Geneva, 2 March 2021. “This report shows how World YMCA and the global YMCA community reacted to perhaps the biggest challenge in its 176 year history” write World YMCA President Patricia Pelton and Secretary General Carlos Sanvee in the World YMCA 2020 annual report, which is issued today.
The report charts both the immediate and the long-term practical and strategic response (‘Resilience’, ‘Recovery’, ‘Reimagination’) to the COVID-19 pandemic, which severely affected YMCA’s activities in the course of the year.
It also highlights a year of important new beginnings, notably in the launch of the YMCA Youth Led Solutions Initiative, the YMCA worldwide Communities of Impact, and the new partnership ‘Global Youth Mobilization for Generation Disrupted’ launched with the World Health Organization and the rest of the ‘Big 6’, the world’s largest youth organisations.
The Reports covers Programmes, Outreach, Partnerships and Governance, and also includes news from each of the four regions to supplement their individual annual reports.
For the first time, the report is issued alongside those of the YMCA Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, and Latin America & Caribbean regions.
