Australian Olympic Team members with Josh Palmer

Date: 10 August 2016

YMCA’s South Australia Aquatic & Leisure Centre (SAALC) are so proud of our staff and program with Australian Olympic Team members with Josh Palmer competing at Rio 2016.

Josh Palmer who nearly quit, is living his Olympic dream.

Now living his Olympic dream in Rio, it is surprising to hear that Joshua Palmer was on the verge of quitting less than four years ago. The 24 year old South Australia will compete in the men’s 4x100m breaststroke medley relay.

He won a gold medal in the open age group championships in 2012, then stepped it up in the senior ranks at the London 2012 trials, finishing third in the 50m Breakstroke (a non-Olympic event). He finished third at the 2014 Short Course Championships in the men’s 100m, and claimed a silver medal in the 50m race.

Joshua also claims he can hold his breath for over 3 minutes!
