Boston Marathon Bombing – Message from the Secretary General

Date: 17 April 2013

Boston Marathon Bombing

‘We have sent a message of condolences to our YMCA friends in the YMCA of the USA. Again we are terrified by hearing shocking news from events where sports and friendship are celebrated. Boston Marathon is a sports event and a coming together of  big crowds of happy people and meant to create fellowship and friendship. Events like Boston Marathon should be a source of joy and friendship and not the place for an eight year old boy to loose his life for no sensible reason at all. Two more people were killed, and a high number of other innocent bystanders lost limbs and health. We join in prayer for the victims and hope for a better future.’

Johan Vilhelm Eltvik, Secretary General
