Date of foundation of the YMCA:

1919

The work of YMCA Lebanon started in 1919 in Tripoli. Early work included services among students at the American University of Beirut and other colleges, services to Armed Forces in World War II, recreational and medical programmes, ‘Home for the homeless’, and vocational training. The YMCA operates with inclusivity, serving all Lebanese people regardless of their affiliations, age, or gender. Their comprehensive approach focuses on addressing the needs of the most disadvantaged and marginalized populations in areas such as education, child protection, health, and economic support. Collaborating with over 400 local organizations, municipalities, and schools, the YMCA is committed to environmental protection, agriculture, rural development, capacity building, youth activities, good governance, and vocational training.
