YMCA Romania

Date of foundation of the YMCA: 

1919, restarted 1990

YMCA Romania was founded in 1919 by Queen Mary of Romania and a group of American YMCA representatives. From the beginning, the association was the most important youth organization in the country, developing programs in sport, education, children, schools. Between 1945 and 1990 YMCA was closed by the Communist authorities. In 1991, YMCA was reopened.
