In Switzerland, two YMCA movements started to grow in parallel with one another: one in the German part of the country and the other in the French part. The first association of the French part was founded in Geneva in 1852. It became a full member of the World Alliance of YMCAs in 1855. Some of the main programmes include youth camps, outdoor activities, Cevi military service and camping activities.
