Dear Friends,

It gives me great pleasure to invite your young leaders to represent the World YMCA at the United Nations in New York, USA. The 8th Annual Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum takes place at a critical point in time as the world is working to address the disadvantages of the current trends in globalization, which are not sufficiently sustainable or inclusive. It will address the theme, “Empowered, Included and Equal”, which is aligned with the theme of ECOSOC and the High-level Political Forum (HLPF) which focuses on inclusion and equality in 2019.

Please see below for the two calls.

ECOSOC Youth Forum 2019 – April 8-9 2019 (One Time Participation)

This is a follow up to the communication sent out in November 2018, to extend the deadline for one-time participation.

World YMCA would like to invite you to join our United Nations delegation for the 2019 Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum in New York on April 8-9. This is a one-time event for young leaders to have the opportunity to engage with UN officials, government representatives and other delegates while exchanging ideas and recommendations on issues important to young people.

“Empowering young people is our mission,” former delegate Razvan-Victor Sassu of YMCA Romania said. “[ECOSOC is] an important step both in directly listening to young people and their representatives, as well as sending an underlying message that young people are starting to matter in policy discussions.”
