The UN theme for International Youth Day 2020 is ‘Youth engagement for global action’. The theme becomes all the more real when we see the ways in which young people are active in their communities in the response to COVID-19. Yes, they are suffering in the wake of the pandemic, with one in six having stopped working since March, but yes, they are playing their part in galvanising the response.
Message from our Secretary General
To mark the day, World YMCA Secretary General Carlos Sanvee has posted a short video message on Twitter, Facebook and here on the global Movement’s website.
He stresses how young people bear just as much pain as adults, and also how they can and do bring about just as many solutions to the multiple challenges the world faces.
“Let’s hear it for young people – they’re ‘the future’, AND the present!”
