Kerry Reilly takes on World YMCA Global Event Coordinator role

Date: 04 April 2023

World YMCA is pleased to announce that the YMCA Scotland Board has agreed to release its Chief Executive Officer Mrs Kerry Reilly, to support on a part-time (40%) World YMCA from April 2023 to July 2026.

Reporting to World YMCA Secretary General Carlos Sanvee, she will coordinate upcoming global events in the worldwide YMCA Movement’s calendar, including the summit planned for mid-2024, as the Movement takes stock on progress in implementing Vision 2030; the 21st YMCA World Council in Toronto, Canada, in July 2026; and the annual National General Secretary conferences of 2024 and 2025.

“We are delighted to welcome Kerry, and will make full use of her long and effective experience with YMCA Scotland and the wider YMCA Movement”, said Carlos Sanvee. “She played a key planning role in the YMCA 175 celebrations in 2019 and the 20th World Council in 2022, and is widely known and respected in the Movement. This is a key role with oversight of both content and procedure, as we seek collectively to bring about these huge events in our calendar and in our shared YMCA-wide Vision 2030 journey.”

Kerry commented: “I am delighted to be supporting this work and excited about how we use our global events to accelerate our work on Vision 2030.”

Kerry Reilly is CEO of YMCA Scotland with responsibility for supporting and enabling work in 28 local YMCAs. She has worked in the YMCA movement for 30 years, starting as a youth worker in a local YMCA. She has led several pieces of international YMCA work, including chairing the YMCA Europe Social Inclusion Group from 2001-2006, being the Event Director for YMCA 175, co-chairing the Programme design team for World Council 2022, and chairing the ‘Support for YMCA in Russia’ group from 2018 to 2021.
