Across sub-Saharan Africa, many young people in marginalized communities are facing the harsh realities of climate change while lacking access to sustainable opportunities. The Climate Games Project is changing that narrative through play, participation, and purpose.
From January 2024 to December 2026, this initiative is using locally designed board and card games like JIHAMI (Kenya), Climate Ladder (Zimbabwe), Waste Hunt (Sierra Leone), and Climate Run (Gambia) to make climate education practical, relatable, fun, and action-driven.
2,470+ vulnerable and at-risk youth engaged across these four countries, 35+ climate game sessions hosted and 1,224 participants were reached during the Let’s Play Festival across eight African countries.
