The E-Sports and Digital Learning Project by YMCA Scotland empowers over 370 young people annually through digital learning labs and e-sports academies, providing accessible education and leadership opportunities, especially for those facing chronic disadvantage. Focused on developing digital literacy, STEM skills, and social-emotional growth, the programme uses a drop-in format that is inclusive and youth-led. The project actively promotes female engagement in a male-dominated sector by aligning learning with participants’ interests. Young people gain real-world skills in project management, coding, and team-building, while also contributing to social action projects. With strong community engagement, the initiative bridges opportunity gaps and fosters inclusive, future-oriented skills development, positioning young people as resilient digital citizens who can contribute meaningfully to a just, tech-enabled, and sustainable society.
