The youth-led Green Apiary Initiative combines environmental education with entrepreneurship through honey production and microfinance initiatives. Using a learning-by-doing model, young people are trained in sustainable beekeeping and manage a self-regulated microfinance fund—the Rural Fund—supported by savings and the sales of hive products. The initiative also includes community training on environmental stewardship and the ecological role of bees. With 40 young people increasing their incomes and 4 accessing microloans to grow their ventures, this model promotes economic independence and environmental awareness in rural areas.
