The Y’s Girls Mentoring Programme connects trained adult volunteers with girls aged 9–14 to support their mental health and personal development through consistent mentorship. Over its 19-month pilot, the project matched 270 girls with mentors, providing regular sessions to build resilience, set achievable goals, and enhance emotional well-being in a supportive and informal setting. With UK National Health Service mental health service waiting times extending up to five months, Y’s Girls offers critical early intervention to prevent crises and equip girls with essential life skills. The programme was recognised nationally in 2022 and received the Family & Youth Work Project of the Year award at the Youth Matters Awards 2022.
