More than 60 leaders representing the National Movements of the Africa Alliance of YMCAs participated in an online Board Governance Training on 7 June, organised under the auspices of the World YMCA. The training session was conducted by Patricia Pelton, Immediate Past President, and Duncan Ingram, a member of the Executive Committee of the World YMCA.
Carlos Sanvee, the Secretary General of the World YMCA, inaugurated the session, while Lantonirina Rakotomalala, General Secretary of the Africa Alliance of YMCAs, moderated the training session.
The session focused on key aspects of good governance, including the fiduciary, strategic, and generative leadership roles of board members. It covered fundamental board principles, YMCA Governance Standards, board policies, and the relationship between the Board and the Executive Staff Team.
Participants included members of the Executive Committee of the Africa Alliance of YMCAs, Presidents, Vice Presidents, Treasurers, and the National General Secretaries of the National Movements within the Africa Alliance. This was the first of two training sessions for the Africa Alliance, with the next session scheduled for August 2024.
