Update: YMCA Myanmar earthquake response

Since the late-March earthquake in central Myanmar, YMCA Myanmar has continued relief efforts. With the assistance of partners, they have:
  • Trained 23 Community Counsellors from Mandalay and Yangon through a 3-day Psychological First Aid (PFA) and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) programme led by senior Myanmar YMCA counsellors
  • Delivered 5,000 water purification tablets and tarpaulin sheets to affected communities in Nay Pyi Taw and on Inle Lake
  • Provided sanitary pads for 1,000 women in Sagaing and Mandalay through local well-wishers
  • Reached 1,000 households in Sagaing and Mandalay with Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA), Gender-Based Violence (GBV) survivor support, Psychological First Aid, and follow-up services funded by DanChurchAid and Norwegian Church Aid (DCA-NCA).
  • Distributed 750 bottles of purified drinking water and 450 body bags in Sagaing and Mandalay with support from World Concern Myanmar.
  • Offered ongoing counselling services in Sagaing, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw.
  • Local coordination: Mandalay YMCA and Nay Pyi Taw YMCA are working closely on the earthquake response.
