Week of Prayer

Week-of-Prayer-cover-01

Since 1904, the World YMCA and the World YWCA have come together to deliver the World Week of Prayer and World Fellowship.

Celebrated each year in the second week of November, the Week sees both organisations joining forces to produce a booklet with a theme, a set of Bible studies for each day, and an annual Bible reading plan so that communities around the world can unite in prayer for a specific cause linked to current realities.

Look for more information soon on the Week of Prayer, scheduled for 13-19 November 2023.

The 2022 theme, “Ignite: Praying the Impact” is aligned with the long-term strategies of #YMCAVision2030 and #Goal2035 of the World YWCA. It is a call to act prayerfully, informed by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

To focus our prayers, we selected the values of: Wholeness; Hope; Responsibility; Dignity; Change; Unity

History of the Week of Prayer

World Week of Prayer 2022

Over the last two years, the YMCAs and the YWCAs worldwide faced some critical challenges with the global pandemic of COVID-19. Many of us are still reflecting on the unprecedented and destabilising events that have taken place over the two last years, challenging our beliefs on where we are now, and where we are headed towards.
