World AIDS Day 2015

Date: 01 December 2015

Today the YMCA stands alongside those impacted by HIV/AIDS on World AIDS Day  2015.

Held on 1 December each year, World AIDS Day raises awareness across the
world and in the community about the issues surrounding HIV and AIDS. It is
a day for people to show their support for people living with HIV and to
commemorate people who have died.

The YMCA’s ‘One Million Voices’ Research* shows that the world’s young
people are wanting more information on HIV/AIDS. “A quarter of the young
people we surveyed said they need more information on testing, treatment and
counselling around HIV. This is a very real need for our young people” said
Johan Vilhelm Eltvik, Secretary General for the World YMCA. “We know that
today they are going to the internet as their main source of information for
these unmet needs. We are supporting all young people and especially those
who are impacted by HIV/AIDS today.”
