World YMCA 2021 Annual Report

Date: 01 April 2022

The World YMCA 2021 Annual Report is published today.

It covers another demanding year for World YMCA and the worldwide YMCA Movement, as it continued to operate in a tough Covid climate.

‘Above all, Covid has made us think again about the future of young people, and the future of the things we collectively believe in. And so we seized those opportunities throughout a year of real determination and progress’, write World YMCA President Patricia Pelton and World YMCA Secretary General Carlos Sanvee in the foreword.

The Report sets out the key achievements of the year, including two online Youth Led Solutions Summits (‘The future of work’, June, and ‘The world of wellbeing’, October) and the YMCA presence at the COP 26 climate change conference in Glasgow in November. It summarises advocacy and partnership work over the year – especially with the Global Youth Mobilization – and charts significant governance and constitutional changes made in 2021. It also tells the continuing story of the development of YMCA Vision 2030, and preparations for the 20th YMCA World Council, a hybrid in-person and on-line event from 3-9 July 2022.
