YMCA 1844-2021: equipping young people for the world of work

Date: 30 May 2021

Marking the 177th anniversary of the day – on 6th June 1844 – when George Williams assembled a group of young men above a drapery story in St Paul’s, London and thereby gave birth to what was to become the global YMCA  Movement, World YMCA has issued a short video piece linking that great event with another great event, 177 years and 1 day later: the YMCA Youth-Led Solutions Summit on the Future of Work, to be held on 7-9 June 2021.

‘The summit can trace its roots right back to that day in 1844’, says World YMCA Secretary General Carlos Sanvee.
