YMCA Ethiopia and the Green-Print Campaign

Date: 16 August 2019

For 20 years, YMCAs in Ethiopia has been synonymous with young volunteers participating in summer activities on climate action, greening and cleaning, education, camping and more. This summer the National Movement set its sights on making its mark on climate change by participating in the Green-Print Campaign.

The national campaign planted 350 million trees on 29 July and YMCA made a significant contribution thanks to support from the ministry of youth and sport. In all, 3,000 volunteers from 10 local branches planted more than 100 thousand trees. Through the programme, young people from two new projects, Smart-UP Addis and Safe and Inclusive Cities Project, also participated.
