YMCA Ethiopia – From the Field

YMCA Ethiopia has launched public awareness road show in Addis Ababa. The youth change agents and young C4D members participating in public awareness and hand washing campaign in public area and in the newly re-located vegetable market, JANMEDA, Sidistkilo area.

 

As of April 21st 20202, the total COVID-19 confirmed cases read to 113, only three deaths.

The country is taking legal and administrative measures to prevent the spread of the pandemic. State of emergency, closure of schools, restriction on public gathering and so many measures are being taken.

YMCA Ethiopia is participating in public awareness and community support programs through its local branches in four regional states. The Addis Ababa projects, Safe and Inclusive Cities, and SmartUp Addis projects are the two projects funded by Plan International Ethiopia. These projects have put great support to prevent the spread of the virus among most vulnerable groups such as informal workers.

YMCA, therefore have engaged in mass public awareness through a roadshow, mass media (Radio and Television), social media. In addition, we give sanitary / hygiene and disinfect at the public area and the newly relocated vegetable
market area, Janmeda.

• Distribute Food and Sanitary supplies (Deliver to COVID 19 Taskforce at Regional, Sub-city and District levels) on Friday 24th April 2020
