YMCA Belgium

Date of foundation of the YMCA:

1853

The first association was formed in Brussels in 1853. In 1855, Belgium was one of the founding movements of the World Alliance of YMCAs. In 1859, the collective National Alliance of YMCAs of Belgium was formed by six local associations across the country. Today, however, only a few local YMCA groups remain active due to the National Council in Belgium being dissolved in 1970. The main programme which the remaining members offer is the YMCA Scouts programme. The Scouts have a variety of age groups participating in activities such as camping skills, craft workshops, first aid, and other events and outings.
