YMCA Cameroon

Date of foundation of the YMCA: 

1924

The YMCA Movement began in Cameroon in 1924 under the affiliation of the French Alliance. In 1951, the National Alliance in Cameroon was established. That same year, YMCA became a member of the World Alliance. In 1977, Cameroon was a co-founder of the African Alliance of YMCAs. Today, YMCA Cameroon is present in all 10 regions of the country. It consists of 9 branches and 70 local unions. YMCA Cameroon oversees a variety of programmes and projects including: ‘From Subject to Citizens’; ‘Africa, We Want’; Green Ambassadors; National Training Camps; International exchanges.
