YMCA East Jerusalem was established in 1949 at the Aqabat Jaber Refugee Camp near Jericho, because of the 1948 war. In 2010, it became a full member of the World Alliance of YMCAs. One of its main programmes is the Rehabilitation Programme based in the Shepherds Field in Beit Sahour. The programme provides rehabilitation services for young people injured in political violence in the region. YMCA East Jerusalem implements activities and programmes all over the West Bank and East Jerusalem, through 11 field teams based in Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Hebron, Jericho, Ramallah, Nablus, Salfeet, Tulkarem & Qalqilya, and Jenin & Tubas.
