YMCA Nicaragua

Date of foundation of the YMCA: 1990

The Latin American Confederation of Christian Youth Associations (CLACJ) proposed the founding of YMCAs in El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua during the 11th World Council held in 1988. The Nicaraguan Christian Youth Association (ACJ-YMCA) is a Christian, secular, and ecumenical organization that prioritizes working with young people from impoverished and high-risk communities. ACJ-YMCA Nicaragua focuses on issues such as gender, law, recreation, culture, sports, empowerment, environment, and local development in various departments. They establish strategic alliances with organizations, community leaders, religious figures, and local authorities to ensure sustainable interventions.
