YMCA Bahamas

YMCA Grand Bahama was founded in 1966. It was officially chartered as a National Movement three years later in 1969. In 1988, it was accepted to join the World Alliance of YMCAs. In 1997, it joined the Latin America and Caribbean Federation, and also developed partnerships with various YMCAs in the USA – and another in the Dominican Republic – in the mid-1990s. YMCA Grand Bahama consists of one main branch in the city of Freeport. This branch oversees several programmes including swimming classes, after-school youth education programmes, summer camp, and other sports programmes such as baseball, tennis, and martial arts.
