YMCA established in 1923 in Latvia, with YWCA following in 1924. YWCA and YMCA became a joint organization, YWCA/YMCA of Latvia, in 1937. It was closed under Soviet rule in 1940, and re-established as the YWCA/YMCA of Latvia on 15 September, 1990. YWCA/YMCA of Latvia work is based on volunteers. Latvian YWCA/YMCA arranges camps, international exchanges, training courses and seminars.
