YMCA New Zealand

The YMCA movement in New Zealand began with the founding of the first YMCA in Auckland in 1855. Over time, additional associations were established in Dunedin, Christchurch, and Taranaki. YMCA programs encompassed a wide range of activities, including work with children and young people, recreation, sports, service clubs, camping, and community work. The National Council of YMCAs of New Zealand consists of 13 local affiliated associations operating from 48 YMCA centers. The main programme activities are indoor camps, outdoor camps, and education.
